Trevor Noah headlined the White House correspondent's dinner—essentially a party for Washington’s media and political elite. It’s common for comedians to deliver critical, comedic remarks about the administration during the event. The attendants laughed at Noah’s jokes as he pointed out their hypocrisy.

On pandemic restrictions: “It is a great honor to be speaking tonight at the nation’s most distinguished super spreader event. What are we doing here?.. Do you read any of your newspapers?”

On rising costs: “Since [Joe Biden] came to office, things are looking up. Gas is up, rent is up, food is up, everything.” Biden laughs.

On legacy media corruption: “Some people don’t think this dinner shouldn’t exist... some people think this shows that the media is too cozy with politicians...people don’t understand you guys have integrity. You would never allow personal connections to affect your ability to be good journalists. Where is Chris Cuomo?”

On identity politics: “I was confused about why me, but I was told [Joe Biden] gets his highest approval ratings when a biracial African guy is standing next to [him].”

On legacy media bias: “The word on the streets is that Jen Psaki is going to MSNBC... But you know moving to MSNBC will be a big switch for you. Right now, your current job is to make the administration look good as possible at all costs, and now you’re going to have to... you’ll be fine actually.” Jen Paski laughs.

Also—Trevor Noah lies and pretends DeSantis was present

Five minutes into his routine, Trevor Noah points into the crowd and says, “Ron DeSantis is here...”

The joke: “One of my favorites, Ron DeSantis is here. Oh man, I’m actually surprised that he found the time,” Noah said. “You know he has been so busy trying to outmaneuver [former President Donald] Trump for 2024. I see you, Ron. I see you, player.”

The reality: Gov. Ron DeSantis’s office rejected the invitation to the dinner. He wasn’t present so it’s unclear who Trevor Noah was pointing to in the crowd.

I would never attend that. I have no interest in that. I did not watch it. I don’t care what they do... It just shows you why that cabal of people in D.C., New York are so reviled by so many Americans.”
